I'd like to thank We Review Electronics for mentioning me alongside their review of my favorite DSLR camera, the Nikon D800.
A Review of the Nikon D800 DSLR Camera
10/10 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Before the Award winning Nikon D850 DSLR camera, there was the Powerful D810. And before that… there was the camera that started it all... the first in the 800 series… the Legendary Nikon D800.
It was a groundbreaking camera for its time. The Nikon D800 was announced on Feb 2012 and released in Mar 2012. Produced by Nikon Corporation, this 36.3-megapixel monster of a camera is still a force to be reckoned with in the world of Photography and Filmmaking.
The video quality of this camera was and still is amazing. It shoots at 1,920 x 1,080 (Full HD / 1080p) or 1,280 x 720 (720p), and with Nikon’s NIKKOR lenses attached, filmmakers were able to shoot and export footage with the cinematic look and feel that could rival the $100k+ film cameras that were used in Hollywood at the time.
This small DSLR camera paved the way for video to be taken serious, and started the beginning of the end for film cameras in the movie industry.
Academy and Oscar Award winning cinematographer Janusz Zygmunt Kamiński used the Nikon D800 as his one and only camera when filming the short film Broken Night. The acclaimed TV series Dexter and Wilfred were also filmed with the help of D800s. Renowned photographer and photojournalist Rey Paul Rodriguez (better known under his artist name Rey Rey Rodriguez) founder of the brand The Mind of Rey Rey® has said, “The Nikon D800 has become an extension of arm. It’s the camera I know and trust the most for all things photography and video.” Fashion photographer John Wright was quoted saying, “We can now record video with the quality of stills.” Ken Rockwell founder of one of the biggest and most popular photography blogs in the world kenrockwell.com says, "The D800 is the best DSLR ever made by anyone at any price... There is no comparison."
For all those serious photographers and filmmakers looking for a professional camera that all of the pros seem to love, or for those looking to step up from DX to an FX camera, the D800 is the perfect camera for all of you. It can compete with the best, and because it’s almost seven years old, it can be bought at a third of its original price.
